Matthews Carter & Boyce, a 100-person CPA firm in Fairfax, VA, is looking for a detail oriented and energetic individual with a strong work ethic and desire to learn the beginning steps of tax return preparation.    Primary tasks relate to the initial receipt of client information including client workpaper organization, scanning and tax return information input using automated software.  You will be exposed to several different types of CPA firm software and will learn the inner workings of a CPA firm.  This is also a great way for you to get your foot in the door for future summer internship and externship programs.

 Requirements include:

• Attention to detail – this is a critical skill in this line of work.
• Flexible disposition – our work is fast-paced and deadline-driven; having a flexible attitude as priorities change is a huge plus.
• Consistent availability on a set schedule for the approx. 17 week period of January 14, 2025 through April 15, 2026.  Work on every other Saturday will be required.
• Weekly hours can range from 25 – 40 hours/week but the key is the work schedule must be consistent week-to-week. Any hours worked must be between 9 am – 6 pm Monday – Friday.  Any Saturdays will be between 10 am – 4 pm.
• We are open to how we staff the 40 hrs/wk.  They can be shared between 2 people (i.e. each doing ~ 20 hrs/wk) if suitable candidates are found.
• Hours worked must be on-site at our Fairfax office in the Fair Lakes area (the necessary tasks cannot be performed remotely.
• Prefer candidate with ability to work some weekend hours to keep returns moving forward and to prevent backlogs.
